Don’t get me wrong I enjoy short shorts as much as the next guy but what I don’t enjoy is the return of Urkel.

Summer hit Sydney a little haphazardly.

First, there were some hot days, then there were some cold days. Rainy days, sunny days, cloudy days, windy days. The hot topic at the moment - climate change - made the weather the centre of attention at parties, on the news, in the workplace.

So with the slow start to summer there was also the more energetic emergence of summer trends. Usually thongs are the shoe of choice, and for completely normal reasons that even I won't bother to rubbish: comfort, ease, lightness...

    I like quirks.

I think quirks are fun. I like the idea of something, whether it is behavioural or physical, being peculiar to someone. It distinguishes that person from everybody else.

I realised how much more I prefer the quaint little shops tucked away in the corner with only one sales assistant and a couple of vaguely interested shoppers passing by and browsing.

I followed up Christmas Day and Boxing Day with two days of "shopping", all in the vain hope of finding something to wear on NYE. I use the term "shopping" very loosely because both days were very lazy and involved a lot of pitstops on pretty park benches, cafes, and a lot of wandering around aimlessly and whimsicly with my lovely friend Holley. As my luck tends to grace me somewhat inconsistently, on Saturday this is what took place:
